Attraction vs. promotion

Sometimes I hear or read a sentence that so poignantly describes something that has been loosely whirring around in my head, it makes the world hold still for a second.

Today I found a sentence like that on Sonia Choquette's website:

You will enter a life process of attraction instead of promotion.

One of the reasons I never thought I could be an entrepreneur or artist is that I didn't like the idea of having to promote myself. But if I naturally attract what I need, I won't have to. And if it's meant to be, I will attract what I need. If I ever find myself promoting myself in ways that I don't enjoy, I will remind myself to attract, not promote.

This reminds me of job interviews. If I ever felt that I had to overly promote myself, I usually didn't get the job. But if there was a natural match and attraction, I was able to just be myself and ended up getting the job. This was usually true for the jobs that I ended up enjoying the most.

Thank you, Sonia, for labeling it so perfectly, "attraction instead of promotion."
