You are the earth and you do all the work

My friend Antonio and I were recently talking about how humans used to think that the earth was flat. Antonio mentioned that, similarly, humans used to think that the sun revolves around the earth when really, the earth revolves around the sun.

That's when it came to me that that illusion--the illusion about the sun rotating around the earth--is a metaphor about life, and that that illusion is still alive and well in a slightly different form today: You often think that things rotate around you, that things happen to you, that the movement in your life happens externally. But that is an illusion. YOU rotate around everything else, YOU make things happen, the movement in your life happens INTERNALLY. You are the earth, and the sun is the rest of your life, and you revolve around it. Don't forget it.
